The leaders of a good company should be, or should at least have been top distributors in companies previouly. Quality leaders should also have successful experience running traditional companies, this is important because running a massive MLM company takes more traditional experience than only having experience as a distributor can offer. It is no secret that many start up companies are starting with sub-par individuals when it comes to experience, make sure you do your research.
Does the company have integrity? Do they stand behind their products, services, and their distributors? No outrageous claims or exaggerations. History shows that companies who make outrageous claims without facts, will fail. An example of this is in the healthy beverage industry, where most of these claims happen. Here is a tip that most people do not know when searching for a company... If a company makes a health claim (i.e. This product cures cancer) then it is automatically classified by the Food and Drug Administration as a drug and as you know, drugs need scientific studies and evidence to make a claim. so why does that matter? well, the healthy beverage industry is not regulated, but when it becomes a drug the FDA decides whether or not you can market with those claims and if you do not comply they will shut the company down forcefully. A certain company, which I will not name, was actually shut down by a storming swat team with assault rifles at their corporate office. The top distributor of that company was fined $500,000.00 dollars because of his stature in the company. The bottom line in this story is if the leaders of a company cross the line into a drug, then it will be shut down and you could possibly be fined for your part in the company.
I can't stress enough the importance of competent experienced leaders that make decisions with the distributors in mind as well as the company.
They should also provide training and more training!!! You wouldn't want to join a company that says, "go sponsor people, but we are not going to tell you how or help you... good luck though!"
Do the leaders have the capital to be successful? meaning, do they have the bankroll to keep the company going strong, pay commissions and do they invest back into the company to give distributors more tools.
There is one more thing that I feel is important when considering the people and it may or may not be important to you. Are they willing to give? Great leaders always give back to its distributors through bonuses and incentives, but most importantly to me is their willingness to support charitable organizations.
This covers what I feel is important when examining the people of a company.
