I do believe that MLM sponsors have a difficult job. They walk the fine line between being there to help their downline and doing too much to the point of creating an atmosphere of dependency.
Even with all of the excellent training available on the Internet today some people still do not really understand network marketing. What they do know is they all want to earn more money and in many cases do as little as work as needed to achieve that.
The Internet has leveled the playing field when it comes to building an MLM business. You don’t have to be particularly good at prospecting or presenting if you represent the right network marketing program.
All the prospecting can be done for you right on the Internet. In many cases you can participate in co-op advertising programs where the leads for your business are even created for you.
Some systems are so sophisticated they will even import leads directly into an autoresponder and follow-up for you. In many cases they will directly enroll them into your MLM business and place them right in your downline.
For people who have money they can build an MLM business and do it almost completely hands-off. However the problem comes in when you have to teach your downline what you are doing.
Many people cannot afford to purchase leads so they must learn how to build their business online using free advertising methods. This includes the rapidly rising in popularity method of social networking.
If you are the type of sponsor who is building a business doing social networking you may find yourself trying to do too much for your downline. If you’re not willing to let people fail on their own to a certain extent they can become dependent on you to do everything for them.
The biggest waste of time is the amount of time you spend answering emails to questions that could be found right on the network marketing company website. Some people lack the confidence to do even the littlest things and become dependent on you as their upline or sponsor.
The quicker you can cut the cord with these types of people the better off both of you will be. Network marketers need to develop confidence and learn how to do online marketing the same way everyone else is today.
The faster you can identify the type of distributor you are working with the better off you will be. As their sponsor if they have money they are probably better off using the system provided by the company.
If they do not have money they will need to learn how to build their MLM business using marketing tools provided by the company. Your job is to assist in that and help only to the point they develop the confidence it takes to build their own business.

Why we Fail and What you can do About it
There are many more people that fail in network marketing than people who will succeed. It is said that 97% of network marketers fail, while 3% will be successful. Why is that? well, there are many reasons including lack of action, poor education, and unreal expectations, but the real reason people fail is their fear of failure.
The fear of failure paralyzes peoples ambitions. Network marketers that fail most, commonly lack action, they lack action because they are scared. Failure is your best friend!!! huh? you ask... Failure is your best friend!!! I cannot emphasize that enough. Every time you fail, you learn. Many of the most successful people in the world will tell you they have failed many times before they achieved their goals.
If people like Warren Buffet or Donald Trump let the fear of failure paralyze them when they were striving to achieve their dreams then we wouldn't have heard of them because they would have been average people just like the rest of us.
Buffet, Trump and many other successful people graciously accept failure because they know it is part of life and the lessons learned from failing can be used constructively in their future endeavors.
You must accept that failure will happen and get used to it! If you don't ask, then the answer is always no. If you don't try, then the result is inactivity. Get out there and graciously accept failure as it comes, you will be better in your future endeavors because of it.
In network marketing, if your not talking about your business then you are not working it. Being active means you are sampling product, prospecting over the web, and simply sharing your opportunity everywhere you can.
Some people think the high failure rate is because of a lack of education and there may be some truth to that but I assure you that good companies will provide plenty of opportunity to educate yourself.
People who advertise with unattainable promises such as, "Earn $5000.00 a week in just a month, find out how I did it!" or "I've discovered a secret, after years of never sponsoring anyone I found the secret that exploded my business, I will share this with you for only $xx.xx" are not quality people. Those are the ads and people that give network marketing a bad name! True professionals do not need gimmicks to sell themselves.
That leads me to the next reason people fail in network marketing and that is unreal expectations. It is said that most companies do not break even until after year one. As a distributor you should consider yourself a business, you must be willing to put some blood, sweat and tears into your business to get it rolling. It will not happen overnight because it is not a get rich quick scheme.
Many new distributors get to about month three in their new opportunity and are discouraged because they are spending more than they are earning back. People decide to quit trying at this point and they became another statistic for the failure rate.
There are many opportunities out there for you to be successful. People want to be around successful individuals who can help them achieve their goals, be that person. Overcome your fear of failure and use it to your advantage. Take your weaknesses and work on them. If you are scared to talk to people on the phone, try cold calling lists. This will not result in getting more distributors, but it will help you get over your fear of the phone.
Ultimately, your path is up to you. No one is responsible for your success except you and you can choose to be average, or be part of the 3% percent who excel.

How Network Marketing Works
Network Marketing is a simple concept that takes a lot of hard work, persistence, commitment and consistency. Not everyone is able to be successful, but for many people it is an extremely lucrative business. The type of person that makes it in this industry has the ability to be a self starter, a will to be successful, the patience to build an organization and most of all the people skills necessary to communicate.
In its simplest form, network marketing is an individual who markets a product or service in order to gain a network of distributors and customers. As simple as it sounds, most who are in the industry will tell you it is difficult to to build. This is because network marketing consists of lead generation, follow up, and the coaching of others in an organization to duplicate your efforts.
Finding qualified leads for a beginner can be an exhausting task but with perseverance, and proper training, leads will be generated.
The industry has transformed since the inception of the internet. Previously network marketing only consisted of face to face interactions and the uncomfortable task of begging family and friends to join you. Today you can use the internet to develop more qualified leads.
Using the internet allows for automation of lead development and a much larger viewing audience for your presentation. It also replaces the need for a distributor to use cold calling tactics, which are hardly if ever effective. One can still be successful prospecting without the internet but they will find the amount of leads will be significantly less.
So, the first part of doing network marketing is lead generation, which for beginners can be a daunting task. Second to lead generation is follow up. This is usually done with an auto-responder email or an email from you as soon as possible. Follow up is also where you need your people skills. You do not need to be a salesman because if the prospect does not understand why this industry is so great and they end up being persuaded into the industry, they will most likely never be an active distributor. Many good companies will provide you with a phone script that you can follow until you feel comfortable enough to work without it.
Thirdly, we will assume you have successfully signed up a new distributor. It will be your task to help them achieve success because their level of success will directly impact your income. You must be able to teach your distributors to do what your doing and to develop an organization of their own.
You must see the big picture... being a successful network marketer does not happen overnight. It can take a year or more to even see a significant income and much longer to achieve what you hear from all those ads on the internet... "6 figure income in 1 month, let me show you how!" When you see ads guaranteeing immediate success consider it a red flag because companies promising unattainable instant results are what gives network marketing a bad image.
On paper it seems simple, but it is truly a test of endurance and if you have the patience and tenacity to actively build an organization you can achieve all that the industry can offer.

The Plan
Compensation plans are difficult to understand and even more difficult to explain. It is important to understand what a good compensation plan looks like because it is going to determine how you will earn commission.
There are so many different types of compensation plans you really must look closely at the one being offered to you. You are going to come across various matrix and binary plans. You will even see a single leg plan if you look hard enough.
Most MLM compensation plans are good because it allows you to benefit from the efforts of people above you and below you. If you are lucky enough to get into a business where your upline enrolls a lot of people underneath you, you really can benefit from that.
However if you’re in a business where you are expected to enroll a lot of people personally to make any money it will be much more difficult. The primary problem with this is the attrition rate that comes with MLM businesses.
The high attrition rate can also be attributed to inexperience. Many beginner network marketers believe that they will get rich quick with minimal effort and that is not the case at all. Usually they are in the company around three months, all of which they have paid out more than they have earned back and they decide this must be a scam because they have not earned any money.
Some people just simply do not put in the work necessary to earn an income within three months, while many times the compensation plan just does not pay sufficiently at the entry levels. I will talk more about these plans below...
One of the reasons I chose the Featured Opportunity that I did is because they are determined to lower the attrition rate within their company. They are doing this by putting some money that would otherwise go to the company into a credit for the distributor that goes directly for their monthly purchase. They are the first company to offer it and I think it is revolutionary. They made it so a distributor can sponsor two to six people depending and cover their operating costs. Its called the Break-Even-Bonus. Learn about the details of the Break-Even-Bonus by going to my Featured Opportunity.
Every company will have different wrinkles in their compensation plan to make them unique and it is important to try as best as you can to understand the different plans in the industry. Understanding means, you can recognize how they work and will function in a given company.
Also, many companies are using hybrid plans that are a combination of different plans. Many times these can be very good for you because they take two plans and mix their strongest features in order to give you the best chance to be successful.
A good company will have educational presentations on how their plans work. When you choose a company study these presentations because inevitably you will be asked by many of your prospects how the pay plan works.
These are the different pay plans that you will most likely see...

The People
When considering the people, look at the leaders. Who are they? what is there history? and do they possess integrity?
The leaders of a good company should be, or should at least have been top distributors in companies previouly. Quality leaders should also have successful experience running traditional companies, this is important because running a massive MLM company takes more traditional experience than only having experience as a distributor can offer. It is no secret that many start up companies are starting with sub-par individuals when it comes to experience, make sure you do your research.
Does the company have integrity? Do they stand behind their products, services, and their distributors? No outrageous claims or exaggerations. History shows that companies who make outrageous claims without facts, will fail. An example of this is in the healthy beverage industry, where most of these claims happen. Here is a tip that most people do not know when searching for a company... If a company makes a health claim (i.e. This product cures cancer) then it is automatically classified by the Food and Drug Administration as a drug and as you know, drugs need scientific studies and evidence to make a claim. so why does that matter? well, the healthy beverage industry is not regulated, but when it becomes a drug the FDA decides whether or not you can market with those claims and if you do not comply they will shut the company down forcefully. A certain company, which I will not name, was actually shut down by a storming swat team with assault rifles at their corporate office. The top distributor of that company was fined $500,000.00 dollars because of his stature in the company. The bottom line in this story is if the leaders of a company cross the line into a drug, then it will be shut down and you could possibly be fined for your part in the company.
I can't stress enough the importance of competent experienced leaders that make decisions with the distributors in mind as well as the company.
They should also provide training and more training!!! You wouldn't want to join a company that says, "go sponsor people, but we are not going to tell you how or help you... good luck though!"
Do the leaders have the capital to be successful? meaning, do they have the bankroll to keep the company going strong, pay commissions and do they invest back into the company to give distributors more tools.
There is one more thing that I feel is important when considering the people and it may or may not be important to you. Are they willing to give? Great leaders always give back to its distributors through bonuses and incentives, but most importantly to me is their willingness to support charitable organizations.
This covers what I feel is important when examining the people of a company.

What is Network Marketing?

Believe it or not... Network Marketing is a simple concept.
It is a business of developing a network of associated distributors or customers to generate sales of a product or services.
Many people in our society think the concept of network marketing goes hand in hand with "pyramid scheme." I can assure you that is not the case! Network marketing is focused on the sales of goods and services. Along with that, an individual to develop a larger income from their efforts, than the individual that sponsored them.
Today, network marketing has been embraced by several traditional businesses. These businesses are reaching far more consumers than they could through traditional marketing tactics-- it is very easy for the good or service to be introduced into another country. Network Marketing is a growing industry especially as an increasing amount of individuals are finding themselves unemployed. According to the Direct Selling Association (DSA) over 13 million people in the U.S. are working in network marketing.
Network Marketing provides a business model that includes the tools you need to become successful as an individual business owner. Robert Kiyosaki puts network marketing in the same category as business franchising. They both have systems that allow you to follow, for instance; if you franchise McDonalds, you are an independent business owner but you have all the resources of a massive company. Your goal is to put their resources in action and the results should follow.
The more you learn about network marketing, the more you will start to realize that it is important to understand that you are responsible for your own success. (i.e. You will be able to find an article in my posts regarding how to choose a successful network marketing company) Once you find the company for you, they will provide the tools for you to follow. This will allow you to have a successful downline- but before this is possible, you need to be willing to invest a significant amount of time into your organization. Your upline will become your main resource, in doing this you will rely on eachother for information and build the ultimate team. You will begin to build and learn from one another and, as a leader, you will be looked up too from your downline.
You can achieve massive financial rewards as well as personal freedom through network marketing. It takes hard work and a desire to connect with people. Social skills are necessary in this field- and just like anything practice makes perfect. As you become more familar with network marketing, you will be introduced to cold calling phone lists in network marketing and they are great tools for growth and experience but unfortunately they do not produce great results. I always tell my downline to purchase some leads and call them, try to call as many as possible in an hour. There are three reasons for this.
- You learn to be comfortable talking to people about your opportunity.
- You will get better at presenting your pitch to prospects through repetition. (do not sell, just present)
- You learn to handle rejection.
Network marketing is truly a business of relationships. Robert Kiyosaki sums it up nicely; "network marketing is the business school for people who like helping people."
Network marketing companies typically focus on reasonably priced products and services that people consume in a short time. The commission structure usually is less up-front then it is residual exponential growth over time. You will be part of an organization and you will develop your own organization that will contribute to your income. Many companies offer other built in bonuses such as, a bonus pool(portion of companies income for qualified recipients), and vacation packages. It is a lucrative industry if your able to be self motivated and put in the work. The company can train you with all the latest in network marketing techniques but if your not willing to put it into action there will be no results.
No Action = No Results
There are many different companies offering network marketing opportunities, they cover everything from Nutritional Products, Communication, Internet, Financial Programs, Alternative Power and etc.
My recommendation is to get into the healthy beverage industry and this is why...
It is a billion dollar industry that is continuing to grow. A healthy beverage is good for the consumer and they will feel a difference in themselves by drinking a truly healthy drink. It is not a one time purchase as a solar panel would be for instance, but it can be consumed and repurchased as needed. Last but certainly not least I suggest the healthy beverage industry because the world is going green! organic is booming and we as a society are showing no signs of slowing down the green revolution!
If your willing to extend your knowledge to your downline and you genuinly care about their success then this business might be for you, but if your only in it for the money, odds are you will fail!!!
Starting and running your own business is an extremely difficult task but if you turn education into action, success can follow. Good luck and Work From Home Doing Network Marketing will continue to be your resource for Network Marketing tips and tricks.
Product
The last, but certainly not least important of the 3 P's is the Product. The product is not to be overlooked when considering an opportunity. It has been said that you can sell a pile of poop with the right marketing. That statement, as true as it may be shouldn't be your basis on how you find a company.
Be a Product of the Product!
You should look for a product that you personally enjoy because you will be much more convincing to a prospect if you truly believe in what your selling. The product is also something that you should use on a regular basis, not as an obligation but as something you feel benefits you.
mlm products range from beverages to phone plans and everything in between. A good product should obviously be of quality, but most importantly you should look for a product that is consumable. The reason for this is, if the product is consumable then repeat orders should continue to roll in.
For consumables such as health drinks, you should look at the price and serving size for comparison. Most of these drinks will be of good quality and will be as healthy or healthier for you to drink than just about anything you can find at a supermarket. Why is price and serving size important? well, price is important because most network marketing companies struggle to compete with drinks for average consumers because the price is too high. A good company will keep price points in mind and will strive to be competitive to the average consumer. The serving size is important because the average consumer wants to have a good size beverage in their hand and drink it over a period of time. This might be more of an opinion on my part, but I really do not understand why the average consumer would buy a product that comes in a single bottle about the size of a wine bottle with the serving size of a teaspoon. Those products might have amazing ingredients, but a teaspoon! Especially with the high price that they carry. It is my belief that if you want to demonstrate a product it better be a serving size of a normal size beverage.
Being demonstrable is always a bonus, look for something that has a "wow" factor, something different. The healthy beverage industry is laced with similar items but if you hard enough you can find the right one.
Follow the 3 P's and I promise you will find a great company that fits your needs. Your going to come across opportunities that might have a great product but a horrible business plan and vise versa. If you join one of them you are settling, do not settle for mediocre, strive to find the best company you can. That includes the People, the Plan, and the Product.

About Me
Hello and Welcome to my site!I became interested in network marketing at age 19. I was a college student that was looking for something different from what traditional education has to offer. I had spent my life until that point believing that success was based on going to college, getting a secure job with benefits and 401k, then working hard to provide for your family until its time to collect social security. It wasn't until I read the book Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki that I found out success is based on time and not income. Financial freedom was a new concept for me and I was intrigued to find out different strategies to achieve it. Kiyosaki introduced me to network marketing and since that point I have been dedicated to my new vision of success. I have been in the industry for four years now and I feel blessed to have found my calling at such a young age.
I am from Vancouver,WA and no its not in Canada for those of you who are wondering. It is just North of Portland, OR where the summers are beautiful and the rest of the year is just as you might expect in the Northwest. I did graduate from my traditional education at Washington State University, but I have no desire to ever use my degree. I couldn't be in a better position at the moment, my friends who believe in traditional education and success are all finding it hard to get jobs in today's economy. While I graduated with them and I am self employed and successful in network marketing. It provides me with time, something traditional careers do not. I also get to help others achieve their own version of financial success.
I am writing this blog to provide network marketing news, updates and tips. I think it is important for people who experience success to give back and this is just one way I feel I am giving back. I will also include posts from other successful network marketers and authors.
Please enjoy my site and if you have any questions or comments, or you want to learn how to use the power of the internet to expand your business please feel free to contact me by Clicking Here!
